Description

Emotion is a strong source of inspiration in her approach to her work. She tries to capture a moment, a feeling… something intangible, fleeting, something one wishes to grasp but that escapes. Inspired by travel and its landscapes, the main subjects are memory and nature. Her work combines photography and jewelry: the jewelry placed in its “frame-box” allows a complete reading of a photograph. The framing or the concept of a frame is an integral part of the work. Blending poetry with the graphic “rigidity” of frames, there is a duality between figurative and abstract, between dream and reality, between a past moment and what remains of it as a memory. She focuses on the relationship between the jewelry, the body, and the connection between the wearer and the observer. Each angle offers a subtly different view: nothing is completely fixed. The appearance and disappearance of the image, driven by the body’s movement, like an illusion or a mirage.

Biography

Audrey Ickx studied Interior Architecture and Industrial Design at ENSAV La Cambre and trained in Jewelry and Silversmithing. At the same time, she opened a shop-gallery in Brussels, bringing together contemporary jewelry designers, and after a few years, she decided to devote herself to her own artistic work. She has embarked on several long journeys and taken numerous photographs, another passion of hers. She creates works that combine jewelry and photography: does the jewelry integrate the photograph, or is it the other way around? Inspired by travel and landscapes, her recurring themes are nature and memory. In parallel, she developed her Schieve collection and launched her jewelry brand. Since 2022, Audrey Ickx has been selected as an artist member of WCC-BeCraft.
