Description
Visual artist Bernadette Mergaerts uses photography and film as mediums, but she also writes, creates (artist) books, and sometimes sings… You will discover her recent way of working through her short film Winter Swimmers (2023). This film “documents” the making of her book Flisvos (2021) and how she started printing her photographic work on wearable textile.
Biography
Bernadette Mergaerts (1958) has been photographing since she was ten years old. Her career as a geographer and later in visual communication and publishing were the natural stepping stones towards her full-time artistic activities. She is a walker who avoids using cars and remains very much a “field” person. She shows her work in sometimes unusual indoor and outdoor places in Greece, France, Spain, Germany, and Belgium. She loves co-creating with other artists like poets, writers, musicians, and dancers.
