Description
The narrative scenes evoke a metaphysical atmosphere and explore universal themes – time, origins, introspection, memories, connections, and emotions – that embody a collective culture. The two-dimensional paintings often have a sculptural quality of bas-relief, playing with shadow and light. They are strongly influenced by Greece, the country where she was born, and Belgium, where she has lived since 2013. This duality is a significant part of the artist’s identity, and it is an integral part of her artistic practice, shaping both her thematic exploration and visual language. The narrative scenes remain open to interpretation, inviting the viewer into a contemplative space. The paintings carry the past but are born of the present, blurring the spatio-temporal boundaries between the ancient and the modern, the real and the imaginary.
