“Rhizome” is a collective of 4 artists who share a common passion for comics, storytelling, and micro-publishing. Come and discover the pages created throughout our editorial history in our small workshop, transformed into an exhibition space for the occasion! All published issues will be available for purchase. If the Riso machine’s health permits, the exhibition will also be a continuously running experimental workshop.
Biography
RHIZOME consists of five comic stories, each four pages long, created by the four founding members and a different guest for each issue. The starting point for each issue is a carefully chosen haiku around which our stories revolve. The printing of our zine is a focal point; by choosing to print in riso, we opted for warmth of tones and depth often neglected in favor of the efficiency of four-color printing. Although it is a much longer and more tortuous path, we are proud of this unique result. Since its creation in 2013, RHIZOME has published 23 issues, been selected for official competition in Angoulême, presented several exhibitions, told some 115 stories, and featured the work of 22 international artists.
