Description
Photographs of Brussels.
Biography
Eric Ostermann has chosen to show Brussels in a different light, opening his audience’s eyes to places they may pass by every day without truly noticing. His three main focuses are street photography, reflections, and rooftop photos. Being on Brussels’ rooftops gives him a feeling of calm and serenity, despite the city’s nearby noises blending together. These are moments of grace that allow him to concentrate on what he observes to bring out the best. Accompanying the setting sun and seeing the city light up from the rooftops of Brussels is already a real pleasure, but sharing it through photography is even more so. Meanwhile, street photography occupies a significant part of his time dedicated to photography. Every weekend, he goes down into the city to capture details and spontaneous scenes that present themselves to him. The reflections he captures in puddles, fountains, and other water bodies lead him to seek out photographic compositions that are sometimes complex and completely invisible if not given attention. Having to crouch close to the ground in search of the perfect reflection of the subject to photograph often leads to results that are as surprising as they are disconcerting.
