Description
My practice focuses on a manual approach to natural materials, primarily wood and stone, and the creation of monumental sculptures. In recent years, I have also explored the possibilities offered by digital tools to bridge the gap between traditional craftsmanship and new technologies. My most recent works create a dialogue between marble, wood, and bronze.
Biography
I was born in Brussels in 1966. In 1990, I graduated from the “Le 75” School, where I trained in the workshop of the sculptor Michel Smolders. I completed my education with several study trips between 1991 and 1994, notably to Carrara in Italy and Portugal. In 1993, my first exhibition took place at the Pierre Hallet gallery, which subsequently represented me for 25 years. In the 90s, I won several awards, including the Godecharle Sculpture Prize, the Young Sculpture Prize of the Sart-Tilman Open Air Museum, and a grant from the Belgian Foundation for Vocation, which supported me in pursuing my practice. My work has been regularly exhibited in Brussels, in solo or collective exhibitions, at the Pierre Hallet gallery, as well as at the Faider gallery. I have also exhibited in France, Germany, and Italy. Today, I live and work in Ixelles. I am represented by the Marie-Ange Boucher gallery in Brussels and the Quai 4 gallery in Liège.
