Sophie Van Bever was born into a family attuned to visual arts and music. From a young age, she developed her eye for beauty and creation through encounters in studios and exhibition halls. This was just the beginning of a long inner journey of learning through her own experiences and mistakes. A three-year training in a private studio, supplemented by sculpture courses, provided her with the foundational knowledge of materials. Over the years, this deep exploration led to works of great sensitivity, carried, as the artist says, by “this self-taught heart.”
Biography
When she sculpts or paints, is she guiding the gesture, or is she being guided? It’s good to remain in the mystery of creation. Her canvases are filled with light and color. Whether she is exploring flowers or geometric forms, the artist allows space for her own vibrations. As for her sculptures, they invite us to grasp everything that can emerge from this subtle balance of the body that takes shape in the material. It is simply beautiful, fragile, and strong at the same time!
